Azelaic acid is one of the actives I reach for most often in clinic.

Not because it is the strongest. Because it is one of the smartest.

It helps reduce inflammation, calm redness, regulate pigment, and support clearer, more balanced skin without pushing the barrier too hard. I prescribe it for reactive skin, perimenopausal skin, pigmentation, rosacea-prone skin, and skin that needs to simplify and come back to one active that does several jobs.

What links them is inflammation, dysregulated pigment, and a stressed barrier. Azelaic addresses all three.

This is one of the very few actives I would prescribe long term.
